How to Clean Your Upholstery After the Holidays
The new year is finally upon us and the holiday season has officially come to an end. While you spent quality time with and created memories with your friends and family, your upholstery may have taken a hit during the festivities.
If you entertained over the holidays or if you celebrated with your kids, spills and stains are inevitable. But with a new year comes a fresh start for everything, including your upholstery. What can you do to make your home stain-free and like new again?
That's where the experts at Zerorez® come in! Here are some tips to get (and keep) your upholstery fresh and clean throughout the new year:
Vacuum
Use a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment so you don't rub in dirt or debris while cleaning. Vacuuming your upholstery helps remove excess dirt, hair, crumbs, and stains. Be sure to read the cleaning tag to ensure you are properly caring for your upholstery. To clean your upholstery clean year-long, vacuum once weekly
Spot Cleaning
With any stain or spill on your upholstery, the key is to act quickly. Treat the affected area with a store-bought stain remover (according to tag instructions) or a homemade solution. A solution of 2 cups distilled water, Ā¼ cup white vinegar, and 1 tbsp dish soap in warm water usually does the trick. Test the solution on an inconspicuous area of the furniture. Dampen a cloth with the cleaning mixture and gently blot away the stain; rubbing the stain can damage upholstery fibers. Once the stain is removed, use a water-dampened cloth to blot up the excess soap.
Professional Cleaning
To keep stains, germs, dirt, and other contaminants at bay in your home have your upholstery professionally cleaned at least once a year - more often if you have pets or kids. The post-holiday season is a great time for cleaning, as a lack of fresh air and an increased number of visitors make furniture and other upholstery a breeding ground for harmful germs and microbes. These can trigger allergies, sickness, and offensive odors.
At Zerorez, our cleaning process does not use soaps, detergents, or shampoos to mask these problems. Instead, our upholstery cleaning process includes our revolutionary Zrā¢ Water to eliminate microbes, thus reducing stains and restoring the beautiful appearance of your furniture and other upholstery. Our Zrā¢ Water is safe to use on all types of upholstery, including natural fibers and synthetics. Zerorez can also apply a stain protectant to protect against future spills to help your upholstery stay cleaner, longer.
